About Compress PDF

Compress PDF reduces the weight of a document by re-rendering each page and re-encoding its images at a sensible screen or print resolution, so the file becomes small enough to email or upload without turning the text into mush.

How to use Compress PDF

  1. Add your PDF file

Drag your PDF file onto the upload area at the top of the page, or tap it to browse your device. You can also pick a file straight from a phone or tablet — the interface adapts to small screens.

  2. Pick a compression level

Low keeps roughly 250 DPI detail for documents you intend to print. Recommended targets about 200 DPI and suits email attachments and portals. Extreme drops to around 150 DPI when a hard upload limit matters more than fine detail.

  3. Let the engine work

Pages are rasterised, images are re-encoded and the document is rebuilt locally. If a tier does not reach its size target, the engine automatically retries with stronger settings so the result is always smaller than the original.

  4. Download your compressed PDF

A result card appears directly under the upload box. Press the download button and the compressed PDF is saved to your device immediately. The upload area stays open, so you can process another file without reloading the page.

Key features & benefits

Guaranteed size reduction

The result is compared against the original before it is offered to you. A compressed file that came out larger is never returned.

Three quality tiers

Choose the trade-off yourself instead of accepting one fixed preset — print-safe, balanced, or maximum shrink.

Sharp text at every level

Compression targets image data first, which is where nearly all of a PDF's weight lives, so typography stays readable.

Batch friendly

The upload zone stays available after each run so you can work through a folder of documents one after another.
